Functions to connect the widely used Storm Water Management Model (SWMM) of the United States Environmental Protection Agency (US EPA) <https://www.epa.gov/water-research/storm-water-management-model-swmm> to R with currently two main goals: (1) Run a SWMM simulation from R and (2) provide fast access to simulation results, i.e. SWMM's binary '.out'-files. kwb.db - Functions supporting data base access

This package contains some useful functions, especially for simplifying data transfer between MS Access databases and R. With the functions of this package it is not needed any more to open and close a database connection explicitely; this is done 'behind the scenes' in the functions. Instead of a database connection the path to the database file needs to be passed to the functions as an argument. The main functions are hsGetTable and hsPutTable which transfer data from an MS Access database to a data frame in R and save data from a data frame in R into a table in an MS Access database, respectively. Take care when getting time series data from an MS Access database, see therefore hsMdbTimeSeries. Use hsTables to get a list of tables that are available in a database and hsFields to get a list of table fields that are contained in a database table.

This package originally contained all the different helper functions developed and used at KWB. As it grew, functions were extracted into new packages that are dedicated to certain topics. The database access functions, for example, that were originally contained here, are now in the package kwb.db. Functions that help to create event information from time series data have been moved to kwb.event and date/time related functions are now in kwb.datetime. This package still contains some functions that are used in different scripts of different KWB projects. Currently, when loading this package, the packages kwb.datetime, kwb.db, kwb.event, kwb.plot and kwb.utils are automatically loaded. I plan to change this behaviour with the next release so that you need to load the other packages explicitly, i.e. with library(kwb.datetime), library(kwb.db), etc.

This package implements a S4 class pathlist that internally stores a vector of file paths (as, e.g. received with dir()) as a matrix of path segments. I found out that this is the most compact form to store the paths. The main feature of the class is the dollar function that allows to filter paths for the value of their top-level folder. Using the dollar operator subsequently you can easily narrow down the list of paths. The class implements functions length(), head(), tail(), summary(), and show().
